trip down the christmas tree lane in palo alto, california

If you live around Silicon Valley in California, a trip down the Christmas Tree Lane is likely to be part of your holiday traditions. A small section of Fulton Street in Palo Alto, has been hosting a traditions since 1940s when the street was on the outskirts of the city (whereas now it is part of the city center..). What started with a few lit trees on the street side and red covers on the street lights, has become quite a spectacle of imagination.

The tradition has been going strong and every new homeowner on the street seems to participate in the fun – and decorations are being passed on from one owner to another. This is certainly a lovely trip to the land of sweetness where teddy bears and Smurfs mingle with the Nutcracker, baby Jesus, the three wise man and elves of all kinds between December 10th and 31st. And an added bonus is the fact that these are beautiful houses and a joy to admire with or without the decorations…

it all started here at 1705...
