shades of scandinavian whites

I was reading a Finnish interior decor magazine called Avotakka (translated as open fireplace) and noted the typical, calming Scandinavian setups: white walls, light floors, shades of white furniture with splashes of colour.

Very relaxing start for a morning:

Large area rugs are the norm. Love the contrast of whites and greys with red and orange colour splashes

White-painted, wide, original floorboards add some old world charm

Natural color scheme with cool twig-tripod lamp

Blinds inside double or triple-insulated windows are so low-maintenance and easy when using top-layer curtains also

Blue and white, beautifully contrasting colours are considered reflecting snow/clouds and lakes/sky

This state-of-the-art fireplace is definitely the centerpiece of the room

Typical tiled walls in kitchen are ideal for kids arts as they will leave no marks on the tiles
