puzzle sandwiches – may i please have some too
Now this is product I might want to get for myself – the LunchPunch puzzle sandwich cutter as I am learning to make these “double bread” sandwiches. (I read some reviews and the biggest fans clearly are grown-up who take the puzzle sandwiches to work!) We don’t normally eat this kind of sandwiches as that is not the culture in Finland (just one piece of bread topped with cheese, tomato or cucumber and lettuce is a very typical one), but sometimes I try to give sandwich-type paninis for the kids at teatime. Growing up in Finland meant that you got free “nutritious” lunch at school (and you have to eat it all no matter what). Sounds great doesn’t it – but then again I was not the greatest fan of many meals such as blood pancakes with jam, minced liver casserole with rice and raisins – the list goes on…
So I keep cooking warm lunches for my kids every day for school, and sometimes I even manage to persuade miss Anaïs that we order school lunch (they have a really good organic, home-cooked meal type provider), but most of the times she wants my somewhat plain boiled veggies with pasta and meatballs.
Anyway I think these kind of little sandwiches would be great party or playdate treats, but in general I would fear to give my kids food that looks like toys they would like to play with, as I always try to make sure that food is eaten at the table and that they don’t play with food.
I am also thinking that they could also double up as cookie cutters, so at $14-$15 they seem like a well-priced deal (sold at Amazon and Pottery Barn). They are also BPA safe, which nowadays gives reassurance as so many dangerous products for the health enter the market every day.
