planning a dream trip to andalucia on #igtravelthursday

Destination Andalucia

For over ten years I’ve been dreaming of visiting Andalucia, the southern most part of Spain –  and see those amazing old Moorish cities. And it looks like my dream is coming true in few weeks. So I’ve been reading my  book very excitedly (I still love to have an actual book to thumb through, although I use electronic city guides a lot in situ), visiting the local sites, and of course looking for inspiration on Instagram.

I fell in love with the Hospes Hotel chain and I wished I had found them before our February trip to Mallorca as they had a beautiful sea-front property there too. Easter is a busy travel time, but I am hoping to book a room in one of their fabulous, historic properties either in Sevilla, Córdoba or Granada – sadly we will not have time to visit too many places in just few days, but something is better than nothing.

My back-up plan is to head to the beach and stay in one of the lovely Marriott Vacation Club properties – I love the look of especially this Playa Andaluza one in the fashionable Estepona. If you are willing to sit down for two hours and listen to their time-share sales pitch you can stay for three nights with rental car and food credit for just a bit over hundred pounds. I’ve been getting these sales pitches for some time and been quite so tempted to stay with such a bargain price!

My latest IG account finds are all collective re-post sites, like our own @IGTravelThursday ones these estaes_ -accounts pick the photo of the day from their region and voila, a beautiful account is born with the perfect index to find different accounts featuring the region! So let me present a few accounts that I absolutely loved: the estaes_andalucia, estaes_cordoba, estaes_sevillaestaes_granadaestaes_cadiz – and the cream of the crown, estaes_espania – which is perfect if you want to travel to Spain and need some inspiration.

These accounts help you to forget the images of cheap boozing tourist filling the beaches in large tourist destinations and allow you to find the rich cultural heritage, hidden gems of nature and pretty hotels.

Anyway, there were my Andalucian inspirations that I loved and wanted to share, but more importantly I wrote this post in the hopes of getting great tips from fellow travellers who have been to Andalucia.

So, if you have been there I would love to hear what places you found definitely worth visiting, where you stayed and if you found a superb bodega or tapas bar to eat in or watch some flamengo in the larger cities!
