going local: romantic penshurst place in kent
What a way to spend a lazy, hot and sunny summer day – exploring the castle and grounds of a centuries old estate in Southern England – it almost makes you feel like you were transported back in time and you were living in the castle – kids running around, whole family leisurely strolling the meadows and orchards, enjoying a lovely lunch and treats…
I love it how these old properties have found a way of surviving by making them one stop for all for a family day – there is the huge play area with the ice cream shoppe, nature trail activities for the whole family, the castle and its treasures, well-manicured grounds and orchards, the tea room filled with fresh treats, and of course also that delectable store selling hand-made candies and all sorts of cute country-style treasures!
We all certainly loved Penshurst Place and hopefully will be able to go back one day again.
