Ljubljana

I’m heading to Ljubljana, the picturesque capital of Slovenia again this week, and looking forward to seeing how spring has started transforming the somewhat bare and grey scene we met there in January to something lush and green. Suitably, my family travel tip tips on Ljubljana has just been published on Skimbaco Lifestyle {see here} and I am hoping to find some new seasonal things to do on this visit!

Last time we stayed at the amazing suite hotel Antiq Palace {review also on Skimbaco LIfestyle, accessed here}, which really is a renovated medieval palace – and that is reflected in the ornate and grand decor. This time I’m trying out something new and modern – the Austria Trend Ljubljana Hotel – which according to my friends has a really nice spa area with different saunas, just can’t wait to get testing.

Most of all I am looking forward to exploring the local food and drink scene a bit more: the cuisine of the country is an interesting mix of eastern european meets southern european – and the key word is the freshness of the produce everywhere! Suitably the central market kicked off last week the Open Kitchen initiative, where on Fridays between March and October (from 8am to 8pm) local chefs prepare their specialties in the market. Just can’t wait to try some out this week!
