house of anaïs before and after – from stable to office

I have been asked for some renovation pictures for the renovation of our first home, the country cottage. Now I have already admitted of not taking too many pictures of the after stage – rather I just have the before and in progress pictures. Why, I do not know…but anyway here’s the first set of before and after, although the after ones aren’t quite the completely finished stage.

Some imagination is needed for all my befores and afters to dress the blank canvas to make it to be a lovely house to live in…

Here we have the “from old moist stable/storage outbuilding transformed to funky home office” one. This is half of the building, the other half was left for a little gym and spa with sauna (what can I say – I am a Finn and miss sauna every day if it is below 90F /roughly 30c…)

Outbuilding beforeOutbuilding before

Before pictures of the old stable outbuilding. The exterior was quite bare with block walls and concrete floors. There was no heating and very little light.

Outbuilding inside

The home office after – with floor heating, lovely shiny floors, very patterned walls (quite a dare as we were not big wallpaper users), new oak beams, hidden lights near the ceiling (above curtains also). After is missing the built-in storage and furnishing of course (including the hidden movie screen – nothing to do with work but rather to be a little hideaway for relaxation also).

The exterior was rendered and gutters were installed and it is hard to miss the new folding doors. But the roof has not been cleaned yet either in this picture… We also did new external movement-censor lights and the paving, including a path leading to the cottage. The views from the office are heavenly – green meadows and sheep gracing, all green and peaceful.

Home office after

Finished office (on a grey October day, sunlight would help a bit with the pictures!)

Home office after

Folding doors open. I love the reflection on the floor

Office after

One of the new oiled oak beams and almost finished lighting
