what’s that place on the top of the mountain…?

On the day before our last day enjoying the beaches of Spain in Valencia region, I spotted something on a top of a mountain as pictured below. How surprised was I to hear that it was a castle over three thousand years old. No tourist signs really leading to it or anything, and my husband recalled visiting the ruins some 20 years ago and at that time it took some serious trekking up the hill on ancient paths.

Except if you look at the picture it does not look exactly like just ruins, does it? So I decided that a hike on the top was an appropriate agenda for the last day before having to drive back to Madrid – and it ended up being an amazing little trip. I mean this is not just a little medieval thing, but something special dating back to 1200 before the Christ – and all open to access by people for free!
