upgrading the twins room from baby to toddler

I started to un-assemble our twins room a couple of weeks ago and poor things ended up sleeping on the floor some nights as the bed I wanted was out of stock. Eventually I got tired and made a quick run to Ikea (literally I was out of the store in 10 minutes with my shopping as I checked the items locations in advance). And assembling these daybed-like toddler beds surprisingly only took for me less than 15 minutes per bed.

Since we have been travelling to mountains and the school has started, the room is not quite complete, but this is what it looks like at the moment. I have been looking for bedcovers (quilted or something else) to put on top of the comforter, but haven’t been too successful to find those in any other place than Pottery Barn Kids yet. So all tips are highly appreciated!

So what’s new in the room? The beds, little pocket-type book holders tied to the end of the bed, round table, 2 chairs and 2 stools, and the girly canopy for miss Celeste. And I should not forget the little board for reward stickers as we are potty-training at the moment also. Master Hugo’s side is still bare – first he took down all the wall stickers we had, and I haven’t assembled yet the little leaf canopy I got for him.

As the room is quite small to start with, so most of the playing takes place downstairs where the play area is, and we just keep upstairs a couple of books, baby dolls and puzzles.

Toddler room upgrade

The “girl side” of the room. Somehow we managed to squeeze in a beanbag here also as they love sitting in them when reading books. The cute and bright pop-up duck is the best thing ever – it stores a lot of stuff and has been for a year a great toy also (easily takes in a set of twins still). Here the kids are enjoying the first celebratory snack in the new room.

Boy side of the room

The “boy” side of the room. I have some nice framed canvases that I hope I could hang up, but we need to figure first the “earthquake-proof” way of hanging them in the kids’ room.
