underground “glass house” – would you be able to live in one?

How long does a novelty of an unusual house last? I guess in this case a year seemed to do it – the so-called La Maison Verre, or Glass Home, which was built in 2009, has appeared on the market again. In a way the name is a bit misleading as more than half of the house is underground, for planning permission was only granted for a “cottage-style” one-level house over ground.

The house has some quirky solutions to bring the light in such as a glass-walled garden on the lower level (originally with real plants but now one can spot plastic evergreens and grass) and glass ceilings to get more light from above. The decor of the house is quite funky too, many colour-themed rooms and especially the kitchen has a nice vibe with its red countertops.

Pretty, fun house, but certainly not for someone like me who loves the outdoors and sunlight a lot! Would you live in an underground house?
