romantic hvitträsk
I am hoping to spot some nice buildings while watching a movie tonight. Gearing more towards the National Romantic style or Art Nouveau. Warming up for the occasion I went back to admire images from Hvitträsk, a villa in southern Finland build to be a studio for architects Gesellius, Lindgren and Saarinen around 1900. It is located by the beautiful lake Hvitträsk and surrounded by calm nature.
The house later became a summer residence for Eliel Saarinen, who is probably better know for his designs and work in the US and being the father of Eero Saarinen, who designed some iconic landmarks such as the St. Louis Gateway Arch and the TWA Terminal at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport.
It is a great place to visit and see a complete design where the interiors are integrated with the buildings. Magnificent colours and details in furnishings.
