quintessentially british

ben sherman unon jack chair

I am feeling very British today and it must be because the rain has returned to the valley. The evening was definitely devoted to sipping milky tea (from Britain) and enjoying chocolates (those melt-in-the-mouth Swedish ones with crispy caramel hearts).

I just love this Union Jack chair from Ben Sherman and have been admiring it lately in the window of the quirky Therapy store. The moment I saw this chair in the window, I ran it to ask if I could buy it, but sadly it was just a loan prop from Ben Sherman. I keep my hopes up and keep searching the next best substitute for it though… Maybe a pillow or a giglee to start with?

I was also browsing at some houses earlier today and here’s one regal quintessentially British pile that just is so delectable!

For mere 111 million dollars these 24 bedrooms, and nearly the same number of reception rooms and bathrooms could be yours along with 5 swimming pools, squash court, bowling alley, movie theatre, tennis court, stables, 11 acres of landscaped gardens and 47 acres of woodland.

And the list goes on. Only 22 miles from London and being new, it should be warmer than the historic mansions, not to mention the lesser amount of spiders. I would just happily settle in one of the (6-bedroom) guest cottages on the property. Nevertheless so beautiful, and opulent, to look at.

If that felt a bit over-the-top how about a true historic Grade II-listed 17th century house in the beautiful Wimbledon in London? This is up for grabs for just $13.5 million. Just look at all that paneling and ceiling details:
