modern take on chi town
I have been to Chicago a few times, but mainly in winter or on a rainy day, so it was a refreshing to get to enjoy sunshine and a warm(ish) weather. And you might not think of a city the best place to enjoy a good foliage, but this year it’s been the only place where I have seen any, and thoroughly enjoyed the bold reds and yellows!
The city looks fantastic, and has this relaxed feel – nothing to do with the rush feeling of the Big Apple. A city appropriately named, as there is certainly some good ‘chi’ there. This time it was all about finding the more modern side of Chicago, and there is so much to see there. One could spend a whole day alone in the Art Institute – although some of the modern art feels a bit dubious – I guess my definition of art should be something more unique that I might not be able to do and a colourful pile of candy in a corner certainly did not seem that artistic to me – guess I just missed the hidden thought in that piece…
Bold foliage all over the town
Beautiful reflections
There is a great balance of high-rise buildings and parks
Lovely modern outdoor arena
Probably the most famous piece of art in the city…
Organic art in the Millenium Park
So beautiful – both form and colours
Just can’t get enough of these views!
…and the beautiful lakeside areas
The Art Institute of Chicago – so much to see
Some of the modern art did not quite impress me
I loved the golden bead curtain though!
I loved the views on the background – they certainly enhanced the art
Fabulous design – still so up to date 50 years later
