This cute feature on Freshome was sweet and  just perfect for me today as I am about to kick off a weekend DIY challenge – I am helping to freshen up a tired little office space, which hasn’t seen much love for the past 25 years or so – pretty much since it was built. Contrary to typical Finnish colour scheme (white and more white) this space actually has that too, although not so successfully applied – yellowish tone and dark brown, some stripy vinyl wall coverings in the bathroom and grey-ish, army-pattern type vinyl flooring (with colour stains from the previous tenant, a hairdresser).

Since the furniture in the place also dates back from the 80s the plan is to use a budget of around 1000+ Euros (max $2000 USD) to redo the floors, paint the walls, tile the bathroom and get some new, simple office furniture and few cute accessories (Ikea I think as it’s expensive here). All this in a weekend – I would call it quite a challenge!

So I am now looking at colours – thinking of some light base colour and maybe one accent wall with more tropical tone. Any suggestions out there?

So wish us good luck and follow the project over the weekend – I am very excited to see if our DIY office challenge stays within the budget and finishes on time (before the office opens up for work again on Monday) and creates a happier and more inspiring environment for the two workers!
