hearty start for the weekend

This weekend is going to be a lot of fun – Anaïs and dad are assembling and fixing the bikes and practicing the bike route to school.  Little twins are graduating from their cribs to toddler beds (which we need to buy), so the whole room will be pretty much rearranged (including the quarterly charity shop pile of small clothes).

Anaïs is also participating in a Chinese poetry competition, for which we have been trying to different “Chinese hairdos”. If you wonder why the latter, a quarter of the final score comes from the authentic outfit and appearance – and I am not known for great hairdressing skills…but I am certainly learning some now (the kids already suffered from that enthusiasm earlier this week when I cut everyone’s hair in a way that my husband calls “interesting and sort of charming”).

So to get a good start for the weekend we wanted to try something new and different – so I made for the first time ever pancakes on a griddle and ever used a heart-shaped mold for it. They were tasty and looked nice too. Now we are ready to kick off all the work!
