bel air trophy home
Described as one-of a kind trophy estate and created by architect Rob Ray Offenhauser this Bel Air (California) house certainly is unique. High ceilings are nice, but I think there is a limit too how high they should be (and not only because of high heating and cooling costs or because of being unecological) – the hallway pictured has such a high ceiling that it reminds more of a grand hotel or a palace in France than a comfortable home, and it just doesn’t look like a place where one should walk around in Kitty pajamas and fluffy slippers but rather in silky nightgown.
Beautiful and opulent house, but certainly not my style. More like a place I would like to tour, like those old country mansion in England. Lucky architect though, as I suspect the opportunity to build something like this does not come very often!
The price tag of the house is pretty steep too, not to talk about the annual property tax itself ($260k), which would buy a decent house in some other parts of the country!
