adorable portland prairie craftsman style

This little Portland house is nearly 90 years old, beautifully maintained and decorated with neutral tones. The decor is maybe a bit scarce in some areas, but certainly cute and calming. The American Craftsman style originates from the British Arts and Crafts movement, which explains the simple form and handcrafted details. One can certainly spot some tell-tales of the Craftsman style such as the front porch locating beneath the extension of main roof, hipped roof and deeply overhanging eaves. Beautiful details!

I like especially the built-in storage around the fireplace and the soft curved shapes of the doorways. Oh yes, and the little detail of butterflies in the bedroom’s ceiling.
