85% discount on a virginia mansion

The house of a vintner and philanthropist Patricia Kluge was listed earlier last year for sale for a whopping $100 m (then $48, down to $24…), but has recently been sold for the Bank of America in foreclosure sale for around $15.

Albemarle House is located in Charlottesville, Virginia and has over 300 acres around it. This 45-room English country manor is considered to be as one of the most important residences created in America since the “Golden Age”. Pretty plush I must say.

The previous owner was not left homeless though as she has other houses and is planning to build a new home on her 900-acre vineyard nearby – and she did fetch a whopping $15m for the sale of the furniture in the foreclosed house…
