going local: delectable leeds castle in kent – enter the castle (pt.2)
The oldest parts of Leeds Castle are around 1000 years old, and yet the last owner, Lady Baillie, lived in the castle still in the 1970s before she gifted the property to the National Trust upon her death. Her rooms remain intact in the castle, and there are also old rooms used to queens and other royalty throughout the times. So much history in this castle – like in many other castles in England!
Currently one enters the castle from the side through the old wine and champagne storage rooms

There are still old wine and champagne bottles in these cellars
One of the many hallways in the castle -simple, yet so impressive!
Royal bedroom of the Queen
Queen’s bathroom
One of the formal living rooms
One of many impressive fireplaces – not like you burn little logs here but more like a full tree!
I loved this corner – such understated style
Beautiful inner courtyard
Lady Baillie’s dressing room
Lady Baillie’s bedroom
Catherine of Aragon’s bedroom (she was the Queen of England from 1509 when she became the wife of King Henry VIII of England)
Such an impressive candelabra – then again it needed to provide all the light in the old times for this stairwell landing
..and we bid farewell to Leeds castle until next time
