a true ice cream & coffee experience in monterey

While driving from Monterey to the lovely Carmel by the sea we started feeling like some coffee and I spotted this lovely entrance to “the Ice Cream Shoppe” in Pacific Grove. Little did we know that we were up for a real treat!

The lovely owner of this shop makes his own ice cream as well as the coffee. He imports the beans, roasts them and grinds them on the spot when you order one of his specialties (which are many). You can even choose the preparation method, which includes the options for French press.

But beware – if you are short of time this is not the place for you. The art of coffee making takes time (and the queue is long too). When we arrived the shop was filled with German tourist, for there are other “specialties” in the store also. Such as an extensive Beatles collection and an old-fashioned horse for kids to ride.
