a pit stop in christmassy barcelona

If you had a couple of hours in Barcelona what would you do? For me, the city is about beautiful architecture, streets filled with buzz (although less so in the winter) and when it’s been a while since my last visit to Spain it’s about good food (and a bit of other shopping too when there is time..)

Barcelona in December 1
‘I love Barcelona’s architecture. It’s gothic, mysterious and romantic!’

With that I mean a stop for a coffee and a cake, glass of wine with tapas and at Christmas time loading the handbag with some real artisanal turron and other Navidades (aka Christmas treats). I could go on forever about the turron varieties I love: Jijona, Alicante, Chocolate with Almonds and of course Yema.

So that is what a few hours in Barcelona in December were like – spotting some beauty around us, shopping for some family Christmas treats – and something new for me – spying on ideas from Geox shoe stores since I am opening, or rather already opened my own store in the centre of Finland (see my post on Skimbaco on that – first it was a pop-up store and because things were progressing slow I decided to try on some other Italian luxury brands too and created my own Shoe.Be identity).

Anyway, come and explore on this #IGTravelThursday some Barcelonan architecture, shoe shops and treats with me!

Barcelona in December 2
‘I love Vespas. One of these days I’ll be renting one and scooting on the little streets for fun’
Barcelona architecture
‘There’s is so much more to Barcelona’s architecture than just the Sacrada Familia and Gaudi to admire’
Christmas market in Barcelona
‘Christmas market in Barcelona. Doesn’t quite have the festive spirit of Germany due to lack of snow and darkness, but still lots of lovely things to bring the festive feel out’
Nativity sets
‘In Spain the key decoration is the Nativity set rather than a Christmas tree. I think it’s time to update our set too with some new features.’
Barcelona in December 3
‘Just found the sweets heaven. How can one pick from this amazing selection – I want it all!’
Sweet delights in Barcelona
‘I think someone’s going to get some sweet delights from their Advent calendar soon…’

Spanish turron
